The failure to build relief roads over the last 25 years whilst unprecedented house building has occurred sadly demonstrates the total incompetence of our local town planners.

I could not agree more. One of the reasons that I started writing about planning was to expose the incompetence

The western link road won't be able to happen without digging up the football pitches at Fairford Leys.. and there isn't enough sport fields as it is.. and the pavilion is rotting away rather than being given to the community to use and rejuvenate.

The Western Link Road is another HS2 negotiation failure. There was a point in the early 2010s where HS2 was throwing money around. The Buckinghamshire councils worked on cancelling HS2 rather than preparing bids. We could have had a lot more of the link road network built by now using HS2 money.

I think that sports fields will have to go unfortunately. If that happens then we need to put pressure on the council to build sports facilities at Berryfields where there is available land.

You mention you have heard some chatter about Terrick. If that pinch point isn’t sorted, the rest of the work falls down: even larger “pipes” hitting the same narrower “kink”. Doesn’t matter how good the rest of the roads are if the pinch point is the limiting factor. *sigh*

Your point has been made to Buckinghamshire Council and the Councillors on many occasions. Unfortunately they seem to have an odd mindset that cars will not use the link between the Wendover bypass and Butlers Cross because that road is intended for local traffic only.

I am hoping that Buckinghamshire Council realise their mistake but it may take a serious accident before anything is done about the pinch point.
